Ms. Carol Sarwansingh started playing the National Instrument of Trinidad and Tobago the Steel Pan at the tender age of five years old.
She was introduced to the steel band Laventile Sound Specialist now known as Courts Sound Specialist of Laventile at the age of six years old. Soon she joined other steel bands such as Curepe Schedanzos at the age of 7 years old and Carib Tokyo now known as Tokyo at the age of nine years old.
She was introduced to other steel bands Starlift and Humming Birds Pan Groove by Dr. Ray Holman and Solo Harmonites by Arranger Mr. Guppy Brown Carib Dixie land by former Captain Mr. Trevor.
She had the honour of playing with the Late Jit Samaroo, Late Clive Bradely, late professor Ken Phimore, Late Pat Bishop, Late Gerald Charles.
During her Musical Journey with the steel pan she was bestowed upon to play for many dignitaries, from her twin island the republic of Trinidad and Tobago likewise other countries such as the Latin Americas, North America, and the European nations and was called upon on many occasions to open NCC panorama with the National Anthem.
She was highlighted many times in the newspapers depicting her with the steel pan. However one particular news article that always remains close to her soul is when the evening newspaper, the reporter at that time was Mr. Peter Ray Blood had mentioned that, she was one of the youngest female steel pannist at the age of nine years old to open the first pan ram a jay in the year 1989 at the Exodus Pan Yard with the National Anthem of Trinidad and Tobago.
She also had the privilege to play in pan is beautiful festival and to recite the Pan Man Prayer at the Pan festival.
Her love for the steel pan with the support from her father Mr. Peter Sarwansingh and her mom the Late Janet Sarwansingh has bridged a gap for her to meet young and older individuals throughout many communities in Trinidad and Tobago and her burning desire is to someday give back to the steel pan players and their steel bands in our country Trinidad and Tobago.
Today she is making that possible by embarking on a project where she is sponsoring online tuition in the form of Information Technology courses to the steel bands throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
