Mel’s Fur Angels Donation

To the left Ms. Carol Sarwansingh, in the middle Stevie and to the right Melissa Bekharry.

I am Melissa Bekharry the owner of Mel’s Fur Angels, the animal rescue mission. I rescue abused and neglected animals throughout T&T.

This mission is mainly run by myself and volunteers who assist with fostering which includes interactions with other animals and humans rehabilitating animals with behavioral and medical issues and providing after care until a suitable home can be found.

This mission was formed in 2009 and since then has been very active as you would be able to see on my Facebook group “Mel’s Fur Angels”. To date I have rescued and rehabilitated over 300 animals working with many vets throughout Trinidad.

One of my very recent rescue was done in POS where I picked up a dog with both eyes popping out of the socket. This dog was name Stevie. Sadly after being assessed by the vet she wasn’t able to salvage his eyes due to the severity of the damages. He is now blind with his lids stitched. He has now healed nicely and is in foster care where he awaits a forever home. Despite loosing both eyes Stevie is very independent, friendly with other dogs, obsessed with babies and has the will to do everything like a normal dog. His disability definitely isn’t holding him back from anything. If anyone would like to adopt Stevie I can be reached at 365-5427.
